The new cPanel pricing and licensing structure announced on Thursday 27 Jun 2019 has caused a great deal of emotions among web hosting companies. More or less out of the blue, cPanel decided to no longer offer unlimited accounts for their web hosting control panel. Instead and effective immediately they introduced a multi-tier licensing structure billed at $0.20 per cPanel per Month. The price hike follows the news last year of cPanel being acquired by Oakley Capital. This group also owns Plesk and SolusVM.

Since PanelSecure's hosting price is based on the number of cPanel licences, for a pack of 5 accounts we need to pay $0.20 x 5 cP x 12 Months = $12 USD per year only towards cPanel licensing fees. Whereas our current pricing is $17 per year that includes cPanel and hosting fees and this insane price change would make PanelSecure inoperable.

With that being said, due to this change in pricing model we had been evaluating DirectAdmin Control Panel for the past 20+ days.  According to us, and the first reactions of web host community, the preffered choice for another panel is actually DirectAdmin (DA) because it is reliable, founded in 2004, has evolved strongly, inclusive new UI, Free SSL Certificates (letsencrypt), migrates easily from cPanel, supports Softaculous Auto Installer, SitePad WebsiteBuilder and includes CSF Firewall (with IP unblock feature).

With DirectAdmin being fully tested and ready for live deployment we will be soon migrating all cPanel hosting customers on our standard $17 USD per year pack to DirectAdmin servers on or before September 1st 2019.

Customers on NGINX hosting will still continue to use cPanel and an additional fees of $12 USD per year will be charged for cPanel licensing. As mentioned on the cPanel forums the price has been scheduled to be in effect from September 1st 2019. The current pricing of NGINX hosting is $45 USD and on 1st-SEP the price will change to $57 USD.

If you wish not to use DirectAdmin and if you would like to continue using cPanel, you may upgrade your package to NGINX hosting at the current discounted price of $45 USD before NGINX hosting price increases on September 1st 2019. While purchasing for multiple years you can be rest assured that you have this $12 discounted, keeping your price in control throughout the duration of your invoice.
